Ten Days to Launch!

The countdown has officially entered the home stretch. In just ten days—on April 28—The Kill of the Hunt will finally be out in the world.

Looking back, it is hard to believe this journey began nearly two years ago. At the time, Grady Gallagher, Sinjin Ravenshire, and Elena Verity were little more than sketches in a notebook—fragments of an idea about the dark secrets hidden behind the pristine white fences and rolling hills of the Virginia Hunt Country.

Writing a first novel is an exercise in patience and persistence. There were countless mornings spent at the desk, coffee in hand, wondering if I could truly balance the "odd couple" dynamic at the heart of this story. I wanted to capture the contrast between Grady—a witty D.C. humor columnist who often feels like a spectator in his own life—and Sinjin, a reserved British intelligence officer defined by discipline and a guarded past. Seeing Elena Verity evolve from a character chart into a rational, decisive equestrian navigating her own trauma was one of the most rewarding parts of the process.

Developing this world meant more than just plotting a mystery. It was about immersing myself in the atmosphere of the Hunt Country, from the impressive equestrian estates to the working farms, and the quaint villages of this dynamic region.

The journey wasn't always a straight line. There were revisions, refinements, and even a few character evolutions along the way. Almost two years of drafting and polishing can feel like a marathon, but as the launch date approaches, that long-term effort feels entirely worth it. Along the way, I was blessed to have the support of family friends and other authors who graciously encouraged me and kept me focused.

On April 28, the gates to Havencrest officially open. I can’t wait for you to join Grady, Elena, and Sinjin as they navigate the maze of greed and scandal hidden within this green and pleasant region.

Thank you for being part of this two-year ride. The hunt is almost here.
