Five Days Until The Hunt Begins!

In exactly 120 hours, The Kill of the Hunt will no longer be a private project living on a hard drive—it will be out in the world, in the hands of readers.

There is a specific kind of anxiety that comes with releasing a debut novel. For years, Grady Gallagher and Sinjin Ravenshire have lived exclusively in my imagination. I’ve spent countless hours navigating the rolling hills of Virginia’s Hunt Country with them, agonized over the dialogue, and carefully placed every clue behind the pristine white fences of Fauquier County.

But as the countdown hits the five-day mark, the excitement is being chased by a healthy dose of first-time-author nerves.

Writing a mystery is a solitary act of construction, but publishing one is an act of vulnerability. It feels a bit like standing at the start of a grueling cross-country course. There’s the adrenaline of the "what if," the restless checking of pre-order links, and the quiet wonder of how readers will respond to Grady’s wit or Sinjin’s disciplined intensity.

Will the twists land? Will the atmosphere of Havencrest feel as real to you as it does to me?

Every writer dreams of this moment, but the reality is far more caffeinated and restless than the dream suggests. It’s a cycle of second-guessing every red herring and then remembering why I fell in love with this story in the first place. A mystery isn’t truly finished until someone else is there to solve it.

On April 28th, the gates finally open. I’ve set the stage and hidden the truth; now, I’m just waiting for you to join the hunt.

Thank you for being part of this journey. See you in five days.
